Godiva PBC - so, who are we?
40 GP Practices (41 as of 1 April 2009) that cover a combined population of over 255,000 Coventry residents have come together to form Godiva PBC, for practice specific information click here. They believe that by commissioning hospital and community services together more equitable, affordable and high quality care can be provided for their patients.
How is it managed?
In 2007 the GPs, Practice Nurses and Practice Manager members decided the structure and working arrangements of Godiva PBC. Some came forward to lead Godiva PBC and a transparent election of peers was held to form the group of representatives that have become the Godiva PBC Shadow Board. The chairman of the Patient and Public Involvement Forum was asked to join and be the patient representative and meetings have been held regularly since. Why a Shadow Board?
Godiva PBC are in the process of applying to become a social enterprise Community Interest Company. This will make Godiva PBC a legal entity. Under the rules of a Community Interest Company all profits must be re-invested back in to the local community in consultation with the local people. This ethos is very much in line with PBC and Godiva PBC’s values and aims.
